  • Live around NorthTanzania – on Rift Valley, on Manyara Region – at Lake Eyasi.
  • It is known they came from the South Sudan and Western Ethiopian highlands.
  • They are Semi-Nomadic Tribe

Doing:

  • Agriculture and Livestock
  • Also Craftsman, that crafts such as; Backsmithing, Beadwork, Brass Bracelets and Necklaces,
  • Arrowheads to the Hadzabe tribe.
  • Trade with the Hadzabe tribe by Barter; they get Wild Honey and Fruit from Hadzabe in exchange of Grain.
  • Cattle is very important.
    • They Raise Herds of Goats, Sheeps and Donkeys.
    • They benefit everything of animals’; Such like; Meat, Milk, Skin, Dung, Horns, Blood, Fat even Tendons…
  • Instead of search food around in nature, They Grow Crops such as Bean, Corn.
  • They also Grind Corn with Stones to make Corn Flour.

Life Style

  • They Wear Patchy, Reddish tones with Animal Skin Leather Clothing.
    • Women complete their outfits with accessories such as Bracelets and
    • They make Circular Decorative Tattoos around the eyes.
  • They make their Houses from Mud, Adobe and Thin Branches of Trees.

The interior is cool and dark.

  • Mostly they Resist from the Formal Education, Only 5% of Datoga people can speak the official language Swahili, 1% can read and write.
  • Health Standards are very Low, Infant mortality is in High
  • Polygamous Marriage is common. Usually men marry with several women.
  • Old Man hold the Power and Leadership;
    • They can Impose Fines and Curses.
    • Collective Pressure is an effective form in social control.
